Živogošće is a coastal settlement in the Makarska Riviera. It consists of three smaller settlements - Blato, Porat, and Mala Duba, which are connected by a promenade along the sea. Živogošće has been inhabited since Illyrian and Roman times, as evidenced by the Illyrian mounds on top of the Suzine hill. It was first mentioned as a settlement in the middle of the 13th century.
The place got its current shape in the last forty years when a significant development of tourism began in these areas, which is now the main activity of the local residents. Olive growing and fishing are also important activities in this area. Clear sea, dense pine forest overhanging beautiful pebble beaches, and all this at the foot of a high mountain give a special atmosphere.
You can complete your vacation with various activities offered in the place - water sports, boat, and scooter rental, and one-day trips by tourist boats (Hvar, Brač, Pelješac). Hiking trails on Biokovo are marked for hiking enthusiasts. There is a 6 km long promenade by the sea that connects the nearby beaches and bays.
